In honor of my dermatology appointment I had today, where I got a skin cancer screening and 2 biopsies done of some suspicious moles, I thought I'd post a link from the American Academy of Dermatology all about the importance of Sunscreen.
I am only 31, and the dermatologist seemed slightly horrified by my sun damaged skin. It's hard to convince yourself when you are under 25 how important it is to limit sun exposure, wear protective gear such as sunglasses, hats, rashgurads, etc., but when you see how quickly the sun damages your skin, it is motivating. I have not been a sun tanner for almost 10 years, and I wear sunscreen but once the damage is done, there is no going back.

I was anti-sunscreen--the darker the better!-- until working at a lumber yard in high school...one too many construction workers with scary scars from skin cancer...now, I am trying to get the boys to wear sunscreen....what a chore, but someday, they'll thank me! Now, that I am mowing 3.5 hours a week...I bathe in the stuff...and still manage to get a pretty great farmers tan! Thanks for the link!
