Gifts & Food
We had Christmas this morning since we are leaving Monday for our 2 week holiday adventure to Fredonia and Eureka Springs. Penner woke us all up at 7 A.M.; poor Rig could have sleep another hour , I think. They opened their gifts and then played for a couple of hours before we went to our favorite breakfast spot for pancakes, hot chocolate, coffee and breakfast burritos. Now we are back home and they are chowing on their chocolate bars before they head back to playing. Merry Christmas to all!

The Thrill of the Winter Coat Hunt
one test down, 3 to go. tomorrow is pathology. seth has become a stranger around our house. we are eagerly awaiting thursday when he is done for the semester. penner has her class party friday and the school sing along. i'm in charge of the craft project at the party. got that taken care of today after a quick trip to hobby lobby and $3.19. i was pretty proud of how cheaply i could get a craft together. when you have a large stash of googly eyes, the rest just falls into place. i've been watching this new show on A&E called "Hoarders." I've become obseessed with it. It is astonishing what people can accumulate over a lifetime; from clothing to cat feces to animal carcasses. i like to think of myself as the antithesis of the hoarder; i'm always looking to clear out clutter. just the other day i decided i didn't need to be keeping the past issues of my favorite magazines anymore; so off to the recycling they go. i had held onto them for quite sometime to enjoy at a later date, but after watching "Hoarders" I couldn't stand to keep them any longer. The show gets me extremely motivated to clean and organize. Interestingly enough, I decided today I kind of Hoard winter coats. I was analyzing this self diagnosis, and decided it is the thrill of the hunt. I watch the coats all season at various stores, as they sit on their hangers at full price; sometimes even 40% off. But, I know that sometime in late winter, those same coats will go for atleast 75% off. So, I wait and watch...Last year I got Penner's current coat for $9.00. Impressive, I know. And not just any old coat. I have coat standards. It has to be heavy and parka length, preferably. Anyway, I thought it was a very healthy exercise when I went through the coat closet last week and bagged up all the winter coats that we didn't need. I guess that size 14 coat that I got Penner at JCPenney 2 years ago for $7.99 won't fit her for several more years. So, I parted with it, and anxiously await this season's hunt.

No School Today!
School got cancelled today for Penner; as you can see we got a lot of snow last night, and it has been snowing most of the morning. We made banana bread this morning, and after lunch I think we'll put on a Christmas movie and have some hot chocolate. I'm curious to see how long Rigby lasts in the cold, but she's having lots of fun so far.
